The Ritz Restaurant — Menu Guide

The Ritz Restaurant is the grand dining room of The Ritz London at 150 Piccadilly — a two-Michelin-starred room (promoted in the 2025 Guide) that was named Restaurant of the Year by the National Restaurant Awards 2025. Executive Chef John Williams MBE, in the kitchen since 2004, cooks contemporary British food built on classic Escoffier technique. This guide summarises the menus and prices from the official Ritz menu (PDF, August 2025) in our own words — with the official PDF linked below so you can read the full text yourself.

The Epicurean Journey (tasting menus)

The signature experience is the Epicurean Journey — a tasting menu built around "the love and knowledge of gourmet food and fine wine," available before 1:45 PM at lunch and 8:45 PM at dinner (official menu, August 2025). Two lengths:

  • Five-course experience — £199 per person. Optional five-glass wine pairing: Classic £117, Fine £221, Prestige £700.
  • Seven-course experience — £221 per person. Optional six-glass wine pairing: Classic £140, Fine £254, Prestige £750.

All prices include VAT; a discretionary 12.5% service charge is added to the bill (official menu, August 2025). On Friday and Saturday evenings, choosing the à la carte or Epicurean menus also carries a £58 per person entertainment charge (live entertainment on those nights — official restaurant page, October 2026).

À la carte — first courses

Sample starters from the official August 2025 menu (described in our own words):

  • Dorset crab (£50) — with crème fraîche and imperial caviar.
  • Langoustine (£55) — à la nage with bronze fennel.
  • Ballotine of duck liver (£42) — with cherry and pistachio.
  • Roast quail (£45) — with hazelnut and verjus.
  • Pea velouté (£40) — with smoked bacon and pecorino.

À la carte — main courses

  • Wild sea bass (£64) — with saffron and Menton lemon.
  • Cornish turbot "Ton sur Ton" (£85) — the priciest main on the menu.
  • Suffolk lamb (£65) — with Roscoff onion and mint.
  • Brittany pigeon (£65) — with apricot and smoked almond.
  • Fillet of veal (£68) — with English pea and lovage.

Arts de la Table — tableside classics

A Ritz signature: dishes finished or served at the table ("the timeless dining tradition of table side service"). These serve two guests and need about 40 minutes' preparation (official menu, August 2025):

  • Dover sole (£170) — "sentiments of the sea," for two.
  • Beef Wellington (£150) — with hen of the wood mushrooms and Périgord truffle, for two.
  • Crêpe Suzette (£65) — for two; the legendary flambéed dessert created by Henri Carpentier in 1895, prepared tableside.

A selection of artisan cheeses from the trolley is £33.

Desserts

All listed desserts are £27 in the official August 2025 menu — the Ritz chocolate soufflé with vanilla chantilly, the Ritz signature chocolate with hazelnut and fudge, a vanilla–almond praline dessert with Dulcey and banana ice cream, rum-soaked baba with exotic fruits and vanilla, and English strawberry with lemon verbena and lime.

Champagne & wine

The menu lists a "Champagne of the month" — at the time of the August 2025 menu, a Taittinger selection: Brut Réserve NV £28 (glass, 150ml) / £130 (bottle), Prestige Rosé NV £32 / £150, Vintage Brut 2016 £38 / £175, Comtes de Champagne 2013 £78 / £365, and Comtes de Champagne Rosé 2011 at £640. Champagne selections rotate, so check the current menu.

What we'd order

If we had one visit, this is how we'd play it:

  • The full occasion: the five-course Epicurean Journey at £199 — it's the menu the room is built around, and only £22 less than the seven-course.
  • À la carte pick: the langoustine à la nage (£55) to start, the turbot (£85) for main — the two dishes the kitchen is most associated with.
  • The theatre: the tableside crêpe Suzette (£65 for two) — it's a piece of dining history, and you can't get this performance many places.
  • Watch the extras: Friday/Saturday adds £58pp entertainment on top of menu prices, before the 12.5% service charge. See our price guide for realistic totals.

Planning your visit

  • Book well ahead: see our booking guide for how far ahead to reserve and the dress code (jacket and tie for gentlemen).
  • Breakfast is for residents first: the restaurant serves breakfast 7:30–10:30 AM for hotel residents, 7:30–10:00 AM for non-residents.
  • Dietary needs: allergen, vegan and vegetarian menus are available — tell the team when booking, per the official menu.
  • The room: lunch and dinner are served beneath the restaurant's soaring glass roof — widely considered one of the most beautiful dining rooms in London.
