The Ritz London Cookbook
Can't get a table — or want to cook like the kitchen? The Ritz London: The Cookbook is the hotel's first recipe book, by Executive Chef John Williams MBE (in the Ritz kitchen since 2004). This page covers what's inside, the price, and where to buy it — from official sources.
The facts
- Title: The Ritz London: The Cookbook
- Author: John Williams MBE, Executive Chef of The Ritz London
- Publisher: Mitchell Beazley (Hachette UK), 2018
- Format: hardcover, 240 pages, ISBN 9781784724962
- Price: £30.00 at the official Ritz online shop (checked October 2026)
What's inside
The book presents 100 fine-dining recipes served across the hotel's dining rooms — The Ritz Restaurant, the Palm Court, and the Rivoli Bar (official Ritz shop page). The recipes are arranged in four seasonal chapters — spring, summer, autumn, winter — and each season opens with a creative cocktail-and-canapé pairing, followed by breakfasts and first courses, mains, and desserts. In our own summary: it is the closest you can get to the Ritz kitchen at home, written by the chef who has run it for two decades.
Where to buy
The official Ritz online gift shop sells it under "Culinary" — buying direct supports the hotel. It is also stocked by major booksellers (Waterstones, Amazon UK) — prices there vary, so compare before you buy.
Worth knowing
- First of its kind: published in 2018, it was the hotel's first-ever recipe book.
- Fine-dining level: these are restaurant recipes — expect Escoffier technique, long ingredient lists, and serious ambition rather than weeknight cooking.
- Not a menu: for current restaurant prices and menus, see our restaurant menu guide and price guide.
